Location Freedom

Posted by Garry Schleifer, PCC | March 5, 2020 | Comments (1)

I started as an entrepreneur over 30 years ago. Over 19 years ago I added coaching and of course, have been getting coaching for over 19 years. Like you, I am always learning how to be a better coach, a better businessperson and, of course, a better person.

This post is about the use of the outcomes of this mix of that learning and experience that will enrich your life and the life of your clients.

Using my newly minted lifestyle freedom planner I’m helping myself, my clients, my family and friends, and my team create more freedom and ease in their lives so that they can do what really matters.

So let’s get started.

I believe there are at least 5 different types of lifestyle freedoms:

  • Financial
  • Time
  • Location
  • Mindset
  • Self-expression

Before I define what each means, the coach in me asks, “What do they mean to you?” Don’t worry, I will take one and break it down using my second (yet unnamed) tool.

Let’s take location freedom.

By overlaying my other new tool it offers simplicity and creation. And isn’t that what we want for ourselves and our clients?

Thinking about yourself. What do you think location freedom means to you?
To me, it means being able to live and work from anywhere without any particular physical place like a home or office. Something I was excited about when I started coaching. Coaching over the phone!

It excited me so much that I made it my mission to be location-free so that I could do what I loved and that is travel.

So I reached into my freedom toolbox and grabbed the other tool and looked at what could I automate, delegate or eliminate.

The most obvious block to my location freedom was related to the magazine I publish, which is available in both digital and print. The most obvious tools to use were automation and delegation. I went about fully automating the delivery of the digital issue and found and delegated the delivery of the extra print issues that were not handled by the printer.

This was not the only thing that kept me in one place but it was the most important one. Also, it took many months to get the systems and people in place to ensure the smooth flow and delivery of the magazines.

So what is your location freedom wish? Why do you want location freedom? How badly do you want location freedom? Has this come up with your clients?

In this age of technology and cost-cutting, more and more corporations are offering work at home options for their employees. It’s not just us entrepreneurs that can have location freedom.

So the next time the topic of freedom comes up for you or your clients, feel comfortable to dive in. Ask your powerful questions and feel free to use these tools and learning to be a better coach.
